How To Treat Acne
It is important to realize that washing your face several times a day, especially with soaps that can be harsh on the skin can lead to having more breakouts. It is best to wash your skin twice a day with a mild soap/cleanser, that is antibacterial or that contains benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid. Oils necessary for healthy skin can be eradicated if you wash your face over and over again. Over-washing can have the opposite effect-meaning your sebaceous glands can create more skin oil and lead to acne. For a clean face just lightly wash with a mild cleanser about 2-4 times a day.
Diet/Nutrition: Despite the fact there is no scientific proof that diet has an effect on acne; it is a must that you maintain a good diet. Each persons metabolism is unique and while some people are unaffected by poor food choices, others are not so lucky. Fatty, greasy food can result in weight gain and poor skin.
It is believed that many an acne sufferer has developed the ailment as a direct result of certain foods or drinks in their diet. Make a note of what foods/drinks result in a worsening of your acne, and then promptly eliminate them from your diet.
Many types of foods and drinks apparently worsen acne. These include dairy products, eggs, and nuts. If you know what foods irritate you, you should make an effort to avoid eating them.
Water treatment: Drinking lots of water is a must if you have acne. A lot of nutrients are found in water that helps heal and keep acne breakouts at bay. The bowel, kidneys, lungs and skin all rid the body of wastes and toxins. If you develop bowel and kidney problems, the two main organs that excrete waste, you most certainly will develop acne and breathing problems.
It is best to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day to properly rid your body of waste, keeping your bowels and kidneys working effectively, and maintaining healthy skin.
