How To Treat Acne With Herbal Remedies

While certain doctor-prescribed drugs and over-the-counter medications can help get rid of acne, there are other non-traditional methods that can also be beneficial. These methods include acupuncture, herbal medicines, homeopathic medicine, mind/body medicine, Ayurveda and Kampo. Diet and nutrition also play a big role.

Acupuncture - Acupuncture is thought to have several therapeutic benefits. There are two types of acupuncture procedures that are thought to be highly beneficial. These are: Auricular acupuncture (where pins are put into your ear) and electro-acupuncture (where acupuncture is carried out with a mild electrical current).

Herbal Medicine - certain herbs are believed to help get rid of acne as they are considered anti-inflammatory.

Calendula- best for pussy pimples

German chamomile

Witch Hazel

Licorice root

Flax Seed (oil)

Tea Tree Oil-believed to be like benzoyl peroxide but without having a negative effect on your skin, like causing it to become flaky and itchy. Herbs are believed to drastically cut down on the P. acnes bacteria that result of dirt filled pores.

Homeopathic remedies: Professionals in this business look at a person’s whole self, both physical and emotional. Then they devise a course of treatment specifically for them. Many homeopaths have discovered that their way can be quite beneficial to curing acne.

Belledonna is geared to people who have “hot” areas and pus-filled pimples.

Calendula , Hepar Sulphur, Kali bromatum, Silicea, pussyish blemish.

Mind and body medicine: This is done through biofeedback, cognitive Imagery and hypnotherapy.

Biofeedback and Cognitive Imagery: These are relaxation techniques that are used, as it is believed that sometimes emotional stress can cause your acne to go from mild to moderate, to even severe. Biofeedback trains one to control heart rate and muscle tension. Cognitive Imagery uses mental imagery to relax a person. Together, with the help of a professional, these methods have proven to help in the battle against acne.

Hypnosis: Relaxes a person and is done by a professional in a setting that is calming and relaxing and works very much like Biofeedback and Cognitive Imagery.

Ayurveda: a holistic system from India. It zeros in on one’s diet and way of life. It looks at an individual’s lifestyle and uses herbal remedies and techniques learned from ancient text about “energetic forces” that have an effect on every living thing on this planet.

Kampo, (Japanese): This is ancient Japanese medicine. It uses Keigai-rengyo-to (TJ-50), which is 17 herbs, and these herbs are predominantly anti-inflammatory and bacteria substances. They include herbs like Licorice root, Scullcap root, Mint, and Angelic root.

Nutrition and Dietary Supplements: There is no real significant scientific data that shows diet has any real benefit in the fight against acne. It is best to know your body. Specific foods have a direct effect on whether your complexion is clear or not. Figure out what foods aggravate your acne and stay away from them in the future.
