How To Treat Acne With Topical Remedies

There are dozens of topical treatments available to the public, treatments designed to rid your skin of acne. There are various types of ointments, creams, gels, lotions and pads available, all of which are designed to fight acne. There are so many products out there that you might find it difficult to choose which or what is the best for your skin. One choice available is a topical treatment. Educate yourself as to what a specific product is and what it can do for your acne, as this will allow you to make the correct decision when it comes time to make a purchase.

Benzoyl peroxide is most typically the main ingredient in most topical creams. Benzoyl peroxide contains bleach, but in fact is a relatively harmless substance when applied to your skin. Use it daily, applying it once in the morning and again just before bed. It is necessary to use benzoyl peroxide on a regularly basis as this helps stop acne from spreading, appearing, or more importantly help dry your acne up. Be sure that before you do this your skin is clean. Gently rub the substance into your skin, particularly into areas that are affected by acne. Rubbing it in will allow the product to sink into your pores and this will eradicate P. Acnes, from your skin. P. Acnes is what causes acne and Benzoyl peroxide is the first defense against acne that is present and will prevent it from reoccurring.

Benzoyl peroxide is stronger than antibiotics and prevents the body from building up any barriers that might prevent it from working. There is one bothersome side effect associated with Benzoyl Peroxide-dry, red skin. The product has a tendency to irritate the skin to some degree, so the best defense against this itchy, flaky and inflamed skin is to use a good cream or moisturizer that contains no oil. Oil will only create more of a problem, as this will clog your pores, and the result will mean a return of your acne or worsening of your acne.

There are many products sold over the counter and available to the public. The list of products is endless. It is up to you to choose the one that works best for your skin and in your battle against preventing acne from becoming more of a problem or curing it entirely. It is important to realize that there are different types of acne, from mild, to moderate, to severe. Mild to moderate acne can be easily treated, as over the counter topical remedies can very well do the trick when it comes to curing these kinds of acne breakouts. Those with extremely sensitive skin must be careful when choosing products for their acne. It is best to use a product geared specifically to your type of skin. Doing so will help you to avoid more problems. Follow the instructions on the label and regularly use the product, meaning preferably once in the morning and again at night.
